Generation by generation, the Earth becomes populated, and the races mix together. A generation of giants is then born as the hearts of men grow more and more corrupt. Then, God said: "I will blot out man whom I have created from the face of the ground."
God sees that Noah is a righteous man and advises him: "Make Yourself an ark of gopher wood covered inside and out with pitch." He then gives him the measurements he must use to construct it, for a terrible punishment is about to strike the earth in the form of a great flood that will submerge and envelop everything. Following God's instructions, Noah and his family escape the flood in the ark, along with a male and female species of each creature inhabiting in the Earth. When the flood at last recedes and the ground is finally dry, Noah disembarks from the ark, builds an altar, and then offers a sacrifice to God. God promises that he will never again punish man by extermination and that: "While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night shall not cease."

"In the beginning"... with these words the Bible begins the story of the great mystery of the origins of time, existence and the history of the Universe. It also contains the proclamation of the Word of God, invisible and omnipotent, creator of heaven and earth, who turns once more to his people with the promise of the salvation which man has awaited since the moment of his creation and of his first sin...This is the subject of the "most widely-read book in the world" from which, in thirty-nine episodes, we evoke characters and events so that young people of the new generations can appreciate the richness of this great treasure.
