DA heads to court over Garden Route beach closure

The Democratic Alliance has filed an urgent application in the Western Cape High Court. The party wants the decision to close beaches along the Garden Route declared unconstitutional, unlawful and invalid. President Cyril Ramaphosa declared the municipality a hotspot area. That means beaches there are closed until the 3rd of January. The garden route has seen a dramatic increase in COVID-19 infections, putting healthcare facilities under immense pressure.
