Yamadipadaan should be done in Pradoshkal. For this, take a big flour lamp. A lamp made of wheat flour has the ability to calm the Tamoguni energy waves and the Tamoguni waves that bring objection. Make two long lights with clean cotton wool. Place them crosswise in the lamp in such a way that four mouths of lights appear outside the lamp. Now fill it with sesame oil and also add some black sesame seeds to it. In the Pradoshkal, worship the lamp prepared in this way with roli, akshat and flowers. After that, outside the main door of the house, make a little kheel or heap of wheat and put the lamp on it. Before placing the lamp, ignite it and keep looking at the south direction and place the 4-mouth lamp on top of the pillow. Say hello in the south direction by saying Om Yamadevaya Namah.

यमदीपदान प्रदोषकाल में करना चाहिए। इसके लिए आटे का एक बड़ा दीपक लें। गेहूं के आटे से बने दीप में तमोगुणी ऊर्जा तरंगें एवं आपत्ति लाने वाली तमोगुणी तरंगें शांत करने की क्षमता रहती है। स्वच्छ रुई लेकर दो लंबी बत्तियां बना लें। उन्हें दीपक में एक-दूसरे पर आड़ी इस प्रकार रखें कि दीपक के बाहर बत्तियों के चार मुंह दिखाई दें। अब उसे तिल के तेल से भर दें और साथ ही उसमें कुछ काले तिल भी डाल दें। प्रदोषकाल में इस प्रकार तैयार किए गए दीपक का रोली, अक्षत एवं पुष्प से पूजन करें। उसके पश्चात् घर के मुख्य दरवाजे के बाहर थोड़ी-सी खील अथवा गेहूं से ढेरी बनाकर उसके ऊपर दीपक को रख दें। दीपक को रखने से पहले प्रज्वलित कर लें और दक्षिण दिशा की ओर देखते हुए 4 मुंह के दीपक को खील आदि की ढेरी के ऊपर रख दें। ऊं यमदेवाय नमः कहते हुए दक्षिण दिशा में नमस्कार करें।
