Lok Sabha Passes Citizenship (Amendment) Bill: This Is How Leaders Reacted

The Lok Sabha on Monday cleared the Citizenship (Amendment) Bill after a very long and heated debate. The bill was passed by 311 ayes and 80 noes. Many Members Of The Opposition Parties Labelled It As “Anti-Constitutional”. President of All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) & Lok Sabha MP from Assam’s Dhubri said that the bill is against the Constitution and against the Hindu-Muslim unity. Trinamool Congress leader Saugata Roy said the bill is divisive and unconstitutional, it violates article 14 of the Constitution. Congress leader Shashi Tahroor said it was a black day for Indian Constitution. Former Assam chief minister and veteran Congress leader Tarun Gogoi said This is dangerous for Assam. Meanwhile, Rajnath Singh said CAB gives citizenship to those who are persecuted on basis of religion.
