Saroj Khan, Veteran Choreographer Of Iconic Bollywood Songs, Dies Of Cardiac Arrest At 71

Veteran choreographer Saroj Khan died of a cardiac arrest in a Mumbai hospital on July 3, 2020. 71-year-old Khan was taken to Guru Nanak Hospital in Bandra on June 20 after complaining of breathing trouble. "She passed away due to cardiac arrest at around 2.30 am at the hospital," Saroj Khan's nephew Manish Jagwani told news agency PTI. Saroj Khan’s health has been a concern for fans ever since she was hospitalised. Khan’s last rites will be performed at Malvani in Malad on July 3. Tributes poured in soon after the news of her demise came in. Saroj Khan, winner of three National Awards, choreographed some of Bollywood's most iconic dance numbers. Saroj Khan won National Awards for choreographing Dola Re Dola from Devdas featuring Madhuri and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, all the songs of Tamil film Sringaram, and Yeh Ishq Haaye from Kareena Kapoor's Jab We Met. Saroj Khan’s last work as a choreographer was Karan Johar’s Kalank. Saroj Khan is survived by her husband Sohanlal, son Hamid, and daughters Hina and Sukyna.
