Lokur to coordinate and monitor the steps taken to tackle the problem of burning stubble. But on Monday, 16 October, his order was stayed. The central government told the court that a law is being made to monitor the burning of stubble.

पराली जलाने से हवा जहरीली होती जा रही है. सुप्रीम कोर्ट ने पराली जलाने की समस्या से निपटने के लिए उठाए गए कदमों के समन्वय और निगरानी के लिए सुप्रीम कोर्ट के रिटायर जज न्यायमूर्ति मदन बी लोकुर को एक सदस्यीय समिति नियुक्त करने की बात कही थी. लेकिन सोमवार को 16 अक्टूबर को अपने आदेश पर रोक लगा दी. केंद्र सरकार ने कोर्ट को बताया कि पराली जलाने की निगरानी को लेकर कानून बनाया जा रहा है.
