On September 18, 2015 DSP Vishnupriya was found hanging at her residence in Tiruchengode. Vishnupriya was investigating the alleged caste killing case involving Dalit youth Gokulraj, who was found dead on a railway track in June 2015. Gokulraj was allegedly kidnapped and murdered for being friendly with a girl, who belonged to the Gounder community.
The Gutkha scam made all the headlines after Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had carried out searches at 35 locations across Tamil Nadu. The probe agency has so far arrested four persons,state police chief T K Rajendran, state health minister C Vijayabaskar were also involved in this case.
Mr. Ramajeyam, the brother of former Transport Minister and Tiruchi district secretary of the DMK, K.N. Nehru, His body was found in a bush near the banks of the Cauvery river in Thiruvalarsolai on the outskirts of Tiruchi on March 29, 2012. He was allegedly kidnapped while taking his morning walk and murdered.Five years after the murder of K.N. Ramajeyam, the brother of former Transport Minister K.N. Nehru, Madras High Court on transferred the case to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), after the CB-CID failed to crack it.
The probe by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) into the seizure of ₹33.6 crore in new notes (₹2,000 denomination) belonging to SRS Mining Company, in which industrialist J. Sekar Reddy was one of the partners, suffered a setback with the currency chests of the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) not being able to provide the record of serial numbers of cash dispatched to banks in the post-demonetisation period.
In February this year, four men were arrested for allegedly blackmailing, sexually harassing and filming a 19-year-old college student in Pollachi, a small town near Coimbatore in Tamil Nadu. The case snowballed into a major scandal after local media reported that not just one but a few hundred women were victims of an organised racket of sexual abuse, blackmail and extortion. Compounding the horror, video clips of the alleged incidents, purportedly filmed by the accused, were also leaked within days of the media reports
