BTS, 빌보드 싱글차트 1•2위 동시석권... '병역 연기' 가능할 것
After weeks of climbing the Hot 100, the tune known now as "Savage Love" has reached the penthouse for the first time. Among the artists credited - South Korean septet, BTS.
Since earning their first Hot 100 ruler just over a month ago with "Dynamite," the band now controls over the highest two spaces at once as the cut sits at number two.
And, South Korea may allow all seven members to delay their mandatory military service.
Lee Kyung-eun reports.
K-pop sensation BTS is set to make history once more,...by occupying the number one and two spots in Billboard's main singles chart.
The band's mega hit 'Dynamite' is currently at number two in the Billboard Hot 100.
And the remixed version of 'Savage Love' by U.S. pop star Jason Derulo, and New Zealand producer 'Jawsh 685'...is set to top the chart.
Unlike the all-English single 'Dynamite', which saw BTS become the first South Korean artists to top the Billboard Hot 100 in late August, the 'Savage Love' remix contains Korean lyrics.
The track ranked 8th in last week's charts, but reached the summit after BTS released a remix on October 2nd, with the boy band taking over lead vocals.
Billboard says the song's overall activity stemmed from the BTS versions and the majority of the track's overall sales were owed to the BTS remix.
According to Billboard, BTS is the first group to sit at number one and two simultaneously since the Black Eyed Peas in 2009.
With the band playing a key role in leading the global boom of Korean entertainment, the seven members will likely be able to delay their mandatory military service.
Legislation had previously proposed a bill that allows entertainers who make "great contributions" to its popular culture to delay military service.
Under the current law, waivers are only given to elite athletes and classical musicians.
But during Tuesday's government audit, the Military Manpower Administration said that it is pushing ahead with the bill.
If passed, the band could perform with its current line-up for at least a few more years,... including Jin the group's oldest member who is due to be called up by the end of next year.
