This is the incredible moment officers with a thermal imaging camera in a police helicopter locate a six-year-old boy lost in the woods and guide recuers to his location after a six-hour search. The rescue was filmed in the unincorporated area of Sauble Beach in the town of South Bruce Peninsula located in the Canadian province of Ontario. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were alerted to a six-year-old boy, who has not been named, who wandered from his house into a wooded area on Tuesday (22 September). The OPP dispatched its aviation and canine units from the Emergency Response Team (ERT) for the search which lasted around six hours before the child was found at around midnight. They only later shared the footage of the boy's rescue. The video shows the emergency call which the boy's mother made who can be heard upset as she gives details of her missing son who is a special needs child. It then shows the moment the OPP helicopter spots the boy who is seen in the prone position on the ground. Three officers are seen standing several feet away as the pilot uses a laser to guide them to the boy’s location. The video then cuts to show the police assisting the young boy who was found in “good condition” as the video comes to an end. The OPP made a statement following the rescue saying: "Reuniting a missing child with their family is one of the highlights of an officer's career."
