A strange and haunting short film from the makers of The League of Gentlemen, and starring Mark Gatiss as a man travelling abroad on a train to visit a gothic cathedral to view some ancient art works, amid an atmosphere of impending dread. Taken from one of my old video tapes when I chanced to record this in 2002 when it was broadcast by Channel 4 during the time they used to showcase short films on their channel, it also has it's original title of The Cicerones - meaning The Guides, which is the title it bizarrely is known as now. They are the ones who Gatiss encounters as he explores deeper into the cathedral. It's somewhat ambiguous, but it stuck with me enough to keep it, and I'm glad I did. I just wish I'd kept some of the other short films Channel 4 used to broadcast back then too!
