China’s drunken masters are fully sober as they try to revive an ancient form of martial arts

Lunging as if spoiling for a fight after too many drinks, Chinese martial artists in Shanghai are in fact stone-cold sober as they practise the traditional form of kung fu called zui quan. Also known as “drunken boxing", the fighting style featured in the films of Hong Kong action star Jackie Chan more than 40 years ago. While the number of practitioners has been on the decline for decades, today there is a group of drunken masters in China trying to revive the ancient fighting style.
