It's time now for our Wednesday's edition of Arirang's 'The World Now'. I'm Kim Jae-hee.
Let's begin with the political chaos in Mali.
Mali's President and Prime Minister have been detained by rebel soldiers.
The two were reportedly taken on Tuesday... following the arrest of several military officers... after gunfire was heard at a military base in a town located near Mali's capital.
The arrest comes after weeks of demonstrations in the West African country... which called for the President's resignation... holding him responsible for the country's deteriorating economy and worsening security situation.
"I'm ashamed, too ashamed today to say that I am Malian. All the Malian people are tired, we have had enough."
"We proposed a good exit for the president but he didn't accept, The people of Mali support the army. They gave our trust."
The nation has spent years trying to stabilize the country since a coup in 2012.
The rebel soldiers' actions were cheered on by anti-government protesters, but were condemned by the African Union Commission.
