Senior Minister (Security Cluster) Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob on Friday (April 17) brushed off claims that the police have no powers to act during the movement control order (MCO).
He explained that police have been given discretionary powers to handle MCO violations under Act 342 - Prevention And Control Of Infectious Diseases Act 1988.
To a question, Ismail said it is not an offence if someone doesn’t wear a face mask in public places during the MCO period based on Health Ministry guidelines.
