The history of the E-Class has its place at the heart of the Mercedes-Benz brand. It is a tradition of a family of innovative, fascinating and diverse cars in the upper medium-size and premium categories. The roots of this heritage go back almost 120 years and since 1947 alone there have been ten generations of the E-Class and its immediate predecessors. Since 1993, the upper medium-size category of Mercedes-Benz cars has been called the E-Class. The enhanced E-Class of model series 213 celebrates its premiere in the summer of 2020.
The original Mercedes-Benz brands paved the way for the success story of the E-Class right back at the beginning of the 20th century: customers were impressed by cars which were positioned below the luxury and premium categories but above the small car category and which formed a focal point of the model range.
