Meet Megachile pluto, the world's largest bee. Also known as Wallace’s Giant Bee, it is as big as a human thumb and about 4 times larger than a European honey bee. The species is threatened by deforestation and had been feared to be extinct until its recent "rediscovery" in Indonesia. Scientists are hoping for the renewal of this magnificent species.
