A terrified family were stuck in their car after electricity cables were blown onto it during a storm in Songkhla, southern Thailand.

The electric poles were pulled down by strong wind and rain on Wednesday afternoon (July 22). They then landed on the vehicle.

The police had evacuated the family from the car by letting them exit through the car back door and deliver them to a safe place first.

Then they coordinated with the provincial electric authority to cut out the power and retrieve the car later.

The family thanked the police for rescuing them from the accident. The driver said: "We were stuck in the car for over 20 minutes before the police came to help us out. We were all so frightened.''

Thailand's rainy season lasts from the end of May until late September. There are regular thunderstorms and heavy downpours leading to floods as the country's undeveloped infrastructure struggles to cope.
