Venus is one of the hottest planets in our solar system after Mercury. Now, researchers have identified three dozen features on Venus, which they state could have been created by volcanism. If this is true then it will potentially reshape our understanding about the planet and its evolution. The study was made possible by the help of computer simulations to model the formation and evolution of Venus’ ring-shaped volcanic structures, called coronae, in detail. The study was led by geophysicist Anna Gülcher of ETH Zürich in Switzerland.

शुक्र ग्रह को लेकर अभी तक माना जाता रहा है कि इसके ज्वालामुखी खत्म हो चुके हैं लेकिन एक ताजा स्टडी में इससे उलट कम से कम 37 ऐसे ज्वालामुखी पाए गए हैं जो ऐक्टिव थे। इन्हें कोरोने नाम दिया गया है। अमेरिका की यूनिवर्सिटी ऑफ मैरीलैंड और ज्यूरिक के इंस्टिट्यूट ऑफ जियोफिजिक्स के रिसर्चर्स ने 3डी मॉडल्स के जरिए यह पता लगाया है कि ये कोरोने 50 करोड़ साल पहले की ऐक्टिविटी नहीं बल्कि हाल के वक्त में बने हैं। रिंग जैसे ढांचे तब बने जब वीनस के अंदर का गर्म मटीरियल मैंटल से होते हुए क्रस्ट से बाहर आ गया।
