In today’s video, we will be discussing the 6 main types of eating disorders and their symptoms. What is PICA and how do you recognize it? How is bulimia different from binge eating? What about symptoms of anorexia? We will be talking about all of this AND more.

Summary:
1. Anorexia
This is one of the most common eating disorders. It typically affects women. Anorexia usually develops during adolescence and young adulthood.

2. Binge Eating Disorder
Binge eating disorder is one of the most common disorders in the United States. Just like Anorexia, binge eating also starts during your younger years. But it is possible to develop this disorder later in life as well.

3. Bulimia
Bulimia is more common among women than men. It has a lot of symptoms similar to binge eating. You eat unusually large amounts of food in a very short period of time. You keep on eating until you are painfully uncomfortable or in distress.

4. Pica Symptoms
Do you like eating weird stuff like chalk, sand, paper, or hair? Pica is the eating disorder that makes you crave and eat non-food items like hair, wool, pebbles and even laundry detergent.

5. Avoidant/Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID)
This order was once known as "feeding disorder of infancy and early childhood". The diagnosis was initially reserved for children up to 7 years of age. But with time and more research, new knowledge was added and the name was changed to avoidant/restrictive food intake disorder.
