India's coronavirus tally surged to 10.77 lakh cases this morning after 38,902 new patients were registered in the last 24 hours, the country's biggest single-day jump in fresh infections, according to the Union Health Ministry data. In the last 24 hours, 543 deaths linked to the highly contagious illness were reported, taking the COVID-19 death count to 26,816. The recovery rate stood at 62.86 per cent this morning. India is the third worst-hit country by the pandemic after the United States and Brazil. Soures indicated that Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is likely to call an assembly session next week to showcase his strength in the House, Gehlot on Saturday met Governor Kalraj Mishra, hours after two MLAs of a regional party that withdrew support from the Congress government announced that they will back the administration. One person was reported dead as heavy rain flooded some of the key roads in Delhi and nearby areas this morning. A person's body was found floating in water near the road under the national capital's iconic Minto bridge that was seen heavily flooded. The body of the pick-up truck driver was spotted by a trackman working at New Delhi yard. Six people were killed and 18 injured after a bus hit a car on Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow-Agra Expressway. The injured were rescued with the help of locals and police as the bus overturned after the collision.
