South Korea's capital city has seen a sharp reduction in the number of old diesel vehicles, long considered among the worst culprits for causing fine dust.
According to the Seoul city government, some 16-thousand diesel cars have been taken off the roads and scrapped this year.
It also said the level of fine dust measured from last December to March had decreased some 20 percent on-year.
Seoul city said the trend was down to government subsidies to help drivers replace their old cars with newer ones and strict restrictions on running diesel cars.
