The peloton headed to Chambéry for the first big mountain stage of the 2017 Tour de France. On one of the difficulties of the day, the Mont du Chat, Yellow Jersey Chris Froome was forced to chase back on after a puncture. However, this was nothing compared to his former teammate Richie Porte, who crashed at high speed on the descent, bringing Dan Martin down with him. While the Irishman managed to get back on his bike, it was game over for the grievously injured Aussie. In the end, Rigoberto Urán beat Warren Barguil by a whisker on the finish line. Advantage Colombia in Chambéry.
