Black-owned eateries in Washington, DC, are trying to hold on as the they face massive drops in business during the coronavirus pandemic. But in recent weeks, as the nation has focused on race issues in the wake of the killing of unarmed black man George Floyd in police custody, there has been an explosion of solidarity and support from activists, as well as social media and commercial campaigns, to support African-American restaurant owners.
