The shocking moment when a Sacramento, California police officer's motorcycle is struck by a truck on Interstate 80 on Wednesday (June 17) night.
Officer Hector Arroyo was running a traffic break on eastbound I-80 near the Watt Avenue overcrossing shortly before 9 p.m. when his motorcycle was struck by a small Chevrolet pickup truck, CHP North Sacramento spokesman Officer A.J. McTaggart said to local media.
Arroyo is expected to survive but was rushed to an area hospital with critical injuries, according to local media.
The pickup driver, identified as 36-year-old Ulises Emmanuel Briones-Rodriguez of Sacramento, remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Officers arrested him on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol, according to local media.
