폼페이오-양제츠 1박2일 하와이 대면,... 한반도문제 논의 된 듯
For the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic brought much of the world to a halt, a major face-to-face diplomatic meeting between the U.S. and China has been held in Hawaii but the two sides don't appear to have made much progress on narrowing their differences.
The meeting between U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and China's top diplomat Yang Jiechi comes at a time of heightened global tension, including the recent instability on the Korean Peninsula.
The U.S. State Department said Pompeo stressed the importance of American interests and the need for fairness when it comes to commercial, security and diplomatic interactions.
China's foreign ministry said the meeting was "constructive" and that Yang laid out Beijing's position on Hong Kong, Taiwan and Xinjiang Province, urging the U.S. to stop interfering in China's internal affairs.
