President Moon Jae-in has called on North Korea to stop raising animosities and return to talks... saying the two Koreas must not reverse the peace deals that he and North Korean leader Kim Jong-un reached during their series of summits in 2018.

President Moon Jae-in stressed Monday that inter-Korean relations cannot be put on hold and that promises of peace cannot be undone.
Marking the 20th anniversary of the June 15th declaration signed at the first-ever inter-Korean summit,... Moon said he has a "heavy heart" -- likely in reference to North Korea's recent criticisms and threats against South Korea.

The direction that South and North Korea must take is clear. With optimistic belief, we must take steps toward reconciliation, peace and unification. Inter-Korean relations, which have struggled to overcome prolonged separation and the crisis of war, cannot stop again.

Moon said the two Koreas cannot backtrack on their summit deals,... vowing continued efforts to implement the agreements he signed with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un in 2018.
He also highlighted Chairman Kim's determination and efforts to turn things around on the peninsula,... urging North Korea not to cut off communication and raise tensions.
Noting that there hasn't been as much progress in North Korea-U.S. relations as hoped,... Moon pointed out the need for the two Koreas to find a breakthrough together.

We have come to a time when we can no longer just wait for conditions to get better. The fate of the Korean Peninsula belongs to us, so we must seek and push ahead with potential projects. I will also make constant efforts to win the support of the international community.

Moon also raised the need for the National Assembly to ratify major inter-Korean deals... so that the agreements are upheld even if there's a change in administration.

President Moon appears to be trying to get things back on track through communication and cooperation. He has asked North Korea to open its door to dialogue, recalling the promise of peace he made with Chairman Kim in front of 80 million Koreans. Kim Min-ji, Arirang News.
