Sura Al Ikhlas
Naming
Ikhlas is not only the name of this Surah, but also the title of the subject under discussion here. Because, here Khales i.e. unadulterated Tauhid has been discussed. In the case of other surah of the Qur'an, it is commonly seen to be named by a word used there. But the word Ikhlas is not used anywhere in this Surah. Therefore, it has been named on the basis of its meaning. Whoever understands the meaning of this surah and believes in its teachings, will be freed from shirk and will manifest himself in the light of pure Tawheed.
The time of revelation
There are differences of opinion as to whether it is Makki or Madani. This difference of opinion has arisen on the basis of the hadiths which have been cited as the reason for the revelation of this Surah.
