A bungling driver performed a shocking parking fail - reversing into a shop then accelerating forwards into a road of four cars.

Thanapob Maichui, 45, was slotting the white Isuzu SUV into a space in Trat, eastern Thailand, on Wednesday afternoon (May 20) when he lost control.

CCTV footage shows how the automatic transmission vehicle jolted backwards into the shop front.

Then as Thanapob panicked and tried to regain control, he surged forwards and smashed into a row of four parked pick-up trucks.

Officers arrived at the scene and interviewed Thanapob who blamed a fault with the car's automatic gears.

The driver said he was trying to park his car when suddenly the gear malfunctioned which caused him to lose control. He promised to take care of the damage.

He said: "I'm an excellent driver, this is the first time I've had an accident. The car suddenly malfunctioned and I couldn't control it.

"I will contact the insurance company to evaluate the damage so they can take care of the repairs to the cars."

Police Major Colonel Wutthichai Laobunsri said: "We have not charged the driver yet as the car needs to be checked for the cause of malfunction.''
