Renowned commentator Jasdev Singh, the voice of Indian sports on Doordarshan, passed away on Tuesday after prolonged illness. He was 87 and is survived by his son and daughter. He started his career in All India Radio in 1955 at their Jaipur station. He was also the voice of sports in AIR for a long time. He also did commentary for the Republic Day celebrations for 48 long years. He was conferred with the Padma Shri in 1985 and the Padma Bhushan in 2008.
