Nguyen Van Duong lost the title match against Chatchai-decha Butdee in 2019 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games. But Nguyen Van Duong became the first Vietnamese boxer to qualify for the Olympics after knocking down his Thai opponent Chatchai-decha Butdee in Jordan on March 9, 2020 to make it through to the Tokyo Olympic.
