The Legendary Italian Car - Detomaso Pantera - Assetto Corsa VR

The De Tomaso Pantera is a sports car produced by the Italian manufacturer De Tomaso between 1971 and 1991. It is a two-seater with a central-rear engine and rear-wheel drive.

The Pantera's line is the work of Dutch-American designer Tom Tjaarda, an employee of the Ghia bodywork company, while the mechanics were handled by Gian Paolo Dallara. The result was an aggressive-looking sports car in Italian style, just what was in demand on the other side of the Atlantic.

The Pantera is powered by the 351-cubic-inch Ford "Cleveland" engine, the same one that powered the Ford Mustang. This is a V8 engine that provided between 285 HP (213 kilowatts) and 350 HP (261 kilowatts), depending on the version. In later years, the power even reached 500 HP (373 kilowatts) in the Pantera GT4. Power was transmitted through a transaxle gearbox inherited from the popular Ford GT40.

During its twenty years in production, a total of 7260 Pantera units were produced, a considerable number for such an exotic car.
