A community library is bucking the national trend of decline and has had an increase in people borrowing and reading books thanks to the enthusiastic work of their volunteers.


Allan Jones, aged 74, from Sprotbrough, director of the Sprotbrough Community Library, said: “Back in 2012 when we took over the library and saved it from being closed it was just a library.
“Now it’s a real asset to the community with classes and reading groups - we’re also a community hub.”
