Invasive mosquitoes threaten Antarctica's fragile ecosystem

  • hace 4 años
Artigas Base, King George Island, Feb 18, EFE/EPA.- European mosquitoes have invaded Antarctica, a fragile ecosystem. It is unknown if they arrived by boat, plane, nestled in the clothing of scientists or as larvae in water containers. Scientists from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, China, Korea, Russia and Uruguay have come together in attempts to eradicate the insects which were first spotted in 2006 on King George Island.
