Thai reveller suffers facial burns after spilling flaming tequila on her cheek and neck

A reveller who suffered facial burns after spilling flaming tequila on her face is demanding compensation from the bar.

Kamonwan Angsumadisron, 22, was drinking with friends at the venue in Phitsanulok, northern Thailand last Saturday (Feb 1) night when they ordered a round of 'sugar burn' shots.

They filmed as a bartender lit the tequila-based drinks and passed them to Kamonwan's partner, Jessica, then to her.

Footage shows how the young woman went to down the liquor but the vicious, burning alcohol tumbled from the glass onto her cheek and hair.

Kamonwan, who was then offered a replacement drink, turned it down and went to the bathroom where she was horrified by the burns across her face.

She complained to the bartender about the incident and the man said he would pay for her medical fees.

But speaking today, Kamonwan said the barman had not replied to her so she contacted police and vowed to take legal action.

The club singer said: "The accident was also my fault because I was drunk that night and was careless to drink the shot without using a straw.

"However, I think the bar should show some responsibility because it was the bartender that informed me that I could drink it and he was the person who prepared the drink and then lit it.

''Nobody from the bar contacted me to deal with my complaint, so that's why I said that I would take legal action.''

Police said the issue should be dealt with between the drinker and bar but offered to help mediate the settlement between the two.

Kamonwan is now negotiating compensation with the bar to stave off legal action.

She added: ''There are people who say that it is my fault. But if it has happened to me, it could happen again to another person. So I just want the bar to show some responsibility for what happened so other people aren't hurt in the future.''
