Survey Reveals Americans
Do Not Tip As Well As They Think The “Financial Etiquette” survey comes from
financial services firm TD Ameritrade. Over 80 percent of survey respondents
classify themselves as generous tippers. Compared to waiters, it seems
bartenders and food delivery drivers
are not getting tipped nearly as well Just over half say they tip
those who deliver food. Less than half give extra cash to taxi drivers. The survey adds that not even a third
tip parking attendants and hotel cleaners. Baby boomers are shown to
tip more than younger generations. Just 33 percent of boomers
say tipping is an option. Boomers also tip wait staff 91 percent of the
time and cab drivers 55 percent of the time. By comparison, millennials tip waiters 72 percent
of the time and taxis at a 36 percent rate. 52 percent of millennials
also say tipping is optional.
