On Ashtami or Navami, the fast is worshiped with the worship of girls. On the other hand, the practitioners of Tantra Sadhana, in these days, practice ten Mahavidyas instead of the forms of Mother. These ten Mahavidyas are Maa Kali, Tara Devi, Tripura Sundari, Bhuvaneshwari, Mata Chinnamasta, Tripura Bhairavi, Maa Dhrumavati, Mata Bagalamukhi, Matangi and Kamala Devi.

अष्टमी या नवमी के दिन कन्याओं के पूजन के साथ व्रत का उद्यापन किया जाता है। वहीं तंत्र साधना वाले साधक इन दिनों में माता के नवरूपों की बजाय दस महाविद्याओं की साधना करते हैं।ये दस महाविद्याएं मां काली, तारा देवी, त्रिपुर सुंदरी, भुवनेश्वरी, माता छिन्नमस्ता, त्रिपुर भैरवी, मां ध्रूमावती, माता बगलामुखी, मातंगी और कमला देवी हैं।
