An inventor in the Netherlands has created a gun that uses direct high-intensity heat through an infrared beam to light an intended target with a laser aiming sight.
Footage from January 27 shows the weapon in action where it is able -from a distance - to alight numerous newspapers.
The inventor said online: "It basically is a portable CO2 laser tube running on a 12v 5000mAH NiMH [Nickel–metal hydride] battery."
They later said: "The plan is to edit the now raw beam in a much more focussed beam of light."
