"We know how to detect the virus. Now we're trying to isolate it by culturing it," says Vincent Enouf, deputy director of the Pasteur Institute's National Reference Centre for Respiratory Infection Viruses. This is where the first three cases in Europe, of French people returning from China, were confirmed. Researchers at the Pasteur Institute in Paris have already developed a test for 2019-nCoV, as it has been named, and are handling samples under stringent conditions.
