TORONTO — Supertall skyscraper "The One" is set to become the tallest building in Canada at 309 meters once it is completed in Toronto later this year.

The mixed-use development is designed by British architecture firm Foster + Partners and Canadian design firm Core Architects.

The skyscraper's exterior consists of multiple champagne-hued rectangular blocks stacked on top of one another. The tower's facade has two diagonal columns with diagonal bracing on each side of the building.

Residents will be able to see the diagonal bracing through their window as they look out to the city.

The top of the skyscraper will feature a green space with trees, according to Urban Toronto. The 85-story tower will include retail stores, restaurants, hotels and apartments.

Toronto currently has 67 skyscrapers and is set to add 31 more to its skyline. An additional 59 skyscrapers have been proposed by architects and design firms.

According to data from the Council on Tall Buildings and Urban Habitat, this will make Toronto home to the second highest number of skyscrapers in North America.

Chicago currently has 126 skyscrapers while 19 other skyscrapers are either under construction or have been proposed for the city.
