Iran's Revolutionary Guards confirmed they fired missiles targeting US military forces in Iraq on January 8, 2020. Iranian state TV said the attack was in revenge for the US killing of top Iranian general Qassem Soleimani days earlier. US officials said the missiles struck at least two locations, including at Al-Asad airbase in western Iraq and near Irbil, also known as Erbil, in a Kurdish area of northern Iraq.
