Ajit Pawar seems to have followed the 1978 template set by his uncle Sharad Pawar. In that year too, Sharad Pawar caused a major political upheaval in Maharashtra by breaking the marriage of convenience of the Congress and Congress (I), a decision that saw his rise as the youngest Chief Minister of the state, heading the first non-Congress govt.
