A festival in north Vietnam featured a slippery challenger as contestants had to race to climb a five-metre bamboo pole.

The challenge was held during a festival in Lai Chau province on June 25.

The men participating in the challenge represent the playing teams participating in the festival. Their mission is to try to climb a five-metre-pole as fast as possible.

The pillar is made of bamboo, making it very round and smooth. Participants need to have the experience and skills to conquer the pillar.

Two of the fastest contestants were filmed conquering the pillar with times of 14 seconds and 15 seconds, winning rewards for their respective teams.
