watched the season premiere
of the hit primetime soap opera 'Dallas.'

Played by T.V. star Larry
Hagman, J.R. Ewing was a
greedy oil baron who had been
shot in the previous season's cliffhanger. .
Due to a Screen Actor's Guild
strike, audiences had to wait for
eight months to find out which of J.R.'s
many enemies actually pulled the trigger.
During that time, the catch
phrase, "Who shot J.R.?," captured
headlines and was turned into T-shirts.
The season premiere
revealed that J.R. was shot
by a jilted mistress. 76% of all U.S.
televisions were tuned in for the episode.
'Dallas' ran for 12 seasons.
