French satellite set to bring widespread broadband to Africa

The French satellite specialist Thales Alenia Space is about to send a 3.6-ton geostationary spacecraft ordered by Eutelsat into space. Both groups intend to provide a low-cost solution to provide high-speed Internet to most of Africa as well as to rural areas in southern Europe.
