This is the funny moment strong winds ripped the head off an effigy of the speaker of the House of Commons John Bercow in Kent ahead of Guy Fawkes Night next week.

Edenbridge Bonfire Society revealed this morning (October 30) that Bercow is this year's celebrity guy, but matters took an unexpected turn this morning when winds destroyed the effigy.

The effigy sees Bercow holding the heads of UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn under his arms. It is to be set alight during the famous Edenbridge Bonfire Society display on Saturday (November 2).

It is not known if the society will patch up the Bercow effigy.

Every year prior to Guy Fawkes Night the society unveils the effigy of who will be burnt.

Past effigies have included soccer player Wayne Rooney, US President Donald Trump and, last year, Boris Johnson.

Guy Fawkes Night is an annual celebration in November named after a man that took part in a failed plot in 1605 to kill King James I.
