If I had to list the masterpieces composed and recorded by Philip Glass, this one would certainly be one of them. If "It was Always You, Helen" was one of Glass's most beautiful and haunting compositions, "Funeral" is doubtlessly his most stirring, along with "The Photographer." I will not belabor my description by discussing the opera from which it comes as my video does not follow its plot. My focus in the video primarily is partly impressionistic, partly historic, and partly dedicatory. Without question "Funeral of Amenhotep III" is a funeral march worthy of a great king and the mourning for the age that dies with him.
