Chicago Cubs Hire
David Ross as New Manager.
Ross will replace Joe Maddon, who is now
the manager of the Los Angeles Angels.
According to ESPN, Ross beat
at least five other candidates
for the job.
It will be the first time he steps
into a head managerial role.
The former catcher retired at the end of the
2016 season after a 15-year career in the majors.
He spent his last two years in the league as a member of the Cubs.
Ross was part of Chicago's championship team in 2016 and hit a home run in the deciding Game 7.
I've always looked at Rossy as a coach when he played here. From the very get-go, I felt like this guy will be a
manager someday, Kris Bryant, via ESPN.
The World Series title was
the second for Ross, who also
won in 2013 with the Red Sox.
Since his retirement, Ross has worked with Chicago as a special assistant to baseball operations.
He also competed in season 24
of 'Dancing With the Stars.'
