It's A Beautiful Day - Girl with No Eyes (1969)

It's A Beautiful Day was a San Francisco band best remembered for the song "White Bird" which they wrote while staying and performing in Seattle in December 1967. The song was eventually recorded and released with other tracks on their self-titled debut album in June 1969. Although later released as a single in October 1969, the song never reached the Billboard Hot 100. Even so, it was a huge success among the underground FM radio audience. I first heard the group on Toronto's CHUM FM in 1969.

"Girl with No Eyes" is track 4 on side one, written by band members David LaFlamme and wife Linda LaFlamme. The strange yet haunting song features a baroque harpsichord performance by Linda and lovely, moving violin passages by David. David LaFlamme sings vocal accompanied by either his wife Linda or band member Pattie Santos (d. 1989). Not sure which it is, Linda or Pattie, and no info exists, even on the CD. The song's inspiration is a total enigma, as is the video I have made for it.

Contains footage from Twin Peaks: The Return (2017) and Portrait Of Jennie (1948).
