Risking her life, a woman in south India climbed down into a well to rescue a trapped but highly lethal cobra.
The incident took place on August 24 in Sonoli village, Belagavi district in Karnataka.
Visual showed the woman lowering herself into the well after spotting the snake.
Identified as Nirzara Chitti, a snake rescuer, she rushed to the spot after receiving information about the reptile's presence inside the well.
Tying a rope around her waist, Chitti lowered herself inside the well and reached closer to the snake using ladders.
Visuals showed the presence of another person- a man- who aided the woman during the operation.
The duo used a ladder to travel from one end of the well to the other.
The woman was seen approaching the snake with caution.
She also survived a mini scare as the cobra raised its hood and dunked at her. Fortunately for the woman, the reptile missed.
Next, she caught hold of the snake's tail and waited for it to calm down before proceeding to put the reptile inside a bag.
After securing the bag with a rope, the woman climbed back with the snake.
The snake was identified as an Indian spectacled cobra, a venomous snake responsible for many deaths in the Indian subcontinent.
