Cornershop has had markets in Latin America
and, more recently, in Toronto, Canada.
The on-demand grocery company
is headquartered in Chile.
Uber CEO Dara Khosrowshahi has
commented in the past about the
ride-sharing company's interest
in grocery-delivery expansion.
Uber announced its plan for
the acquisition on Friday.

Cornershop had been involved in a $225 million
potential acquisition deal with Walmart.
That deal fell apart when it was
blocked by Mexican anti-trust regulators. .
The potential deal between Uber
and Cornershop still faces
regulatory approval
