An interview with an Extinction Rebellion protester at Trafalgar Square on Tuesday afternoon (October 8) about why he's on hunger strike.

"I'm on hunger strike to show the extreme nature of what we're facing at the moment", the man said, "we're not here just to have fun, have a laugh and have a dance about - this is very, very serious".

On what would make him call off his hunger strike, "see change of heart in the government" and "stop walking about the truth". He accused the government of bending the statistics on the UK's carbon footprint "by excluding aviation and import costs".

He is currently on his second day of the strike, which he called "some personal sacrifice".
